Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

We collect the minimum information required to provide the Nelo service:

• Email address — used only for sign-in via one-time passcode. Never shared with third parties.
• First name and city — entered during onboarding, stored to personalise your experience and calculate approximate distance between you and your partner. City coordinates are approximate (city-level, not street-level).
• Timezone — detected automatically to show each other's local time.
• Presence activity — anonymous timestamps indicating when you're active in the app, visible only to your paired partner. Purged after 24 hours.
• Moments content — text, voice notes, and photos you choose to share. Stored securely and visible only to you and your partner.

2. What we do not collect

• We do not collect precise GPS location at any point
• We do not read message content for advertising or training purposes
• We do not build advertising profiles
• We do not sell, rent, or trade your data with any third party
• We do not use behavioural tracking or fingerprinting

3. How we use your data

Your data is used exclusively to deliver the Nelo service to you and your partner:

• Authenticate your account via one-time email code
• Display your partner's approximate presence and time zone
• Store and synchronise moments, tugs, and reunion countdowns between your paired devices
• Calculate approximate distance between cities

4. Third-party services

Nelo uses Supabase (supabase.com) as its backend database and authentication provider, hosted on AWS infrastructure in the US. Supabase processes data in accordance with GDPR and SOC 2 Type II standards. We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising networks, or data brokers.

5. Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. Presence events are automatically purged after 24 hours. When you delete your account, all your personal data, moments, and account information are permanently and irreversibly deleted from our systems within 48 hours.

6. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of your personal data
• Correction — update your name or city at any time in the app
• Deletion — delete your account directly from the app's Settings screen. This deletes all your data immediately.
• Portability — request an export of your data

7. Children's privacy

Nelo is not intended for users under the age of 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy on rare occasions. If we make material changes, we will notify you via the app or email. Continued use of Nelo after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
